Young moms in Des Moines are using blogging and social networking tools to meet new people, talk about the ups and downs of motherhood and share their children’s progress with friends and family. Jody Gifford, 36, started blogging about three years ago at sadiegifford.blogspot.com, shortly before her daughter was born. Now that the stay-at-home-mom also has 1-year-old twins, she says Internet applications like Blogger, Facebook and Twitter have helped her stay connected to the world outside her house. “They make you go from being isolated to having a community of friends, even if you don’t know what they look like,” she said. “It makes you feel like a person again.
